Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important political figure commented the attack made him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
